FAQs

How can I find out your availability?

The best way is to get in touch with me, as my calendar changes often. Feel free to call, text, email or use the contact form and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

What do your packages include?

I try to keep things nice and simple here at Paul Courtney Photography, so along with taking photos at your event, the packages also include a memory stick of the all of the photos, a meet up (recommended), a venue scout (if you’d like one) and editing of all photos. And by keeping things really simple, you’re not being charged for additional things, so you get the best possible price.

I’m not sure what package is the right one.

Don’t worry. If none of the packages are what you’re looking for, just get in touch and I’d be happy to discuss and work out what we can do. If you’ve got a specific time frame that you need a photographer for, or a budget you need to stick to, I’d be happy to create a bespoke package for you.

How far in advance can I book?

As far as you want. I take some bookings 2 or 3 years in advance, but in other cases, only a few weeks.

Can you save a specific date for me?

Yes, so long as it’s not already booked and you have paid a deposit, the date will be marked for your event, and cannot be booked by anyone else.

Can you save a specific date before we pay the deposit?

Sadly not. Some dates are in high demand, and plans change frequently. To be fair on everyone, I can only reserve a date once the deposit has been paid, and dates are available on a first come, first serve basis.

Can I have a second photographer at my event?

Yes. I am more than happy to work with any other photographers you have. Or if you would like me to arrange for another photographer to come along, I can certainly try and arrange something, but it will depend on their availability.

Can you do videography?

No, I don’t have the right equipment to be able to do this. But I am happy to work with any videographer that you find. Check out the Exeter Wedding website to find someone local.

Can I meet you before agreeing to book you?

Definitely! I highly recommend meeting up with any one that you want to work with. I try and arrange to meet up somewhere that’s about halfway between us, so neither of us have to travel too far. If you can’t meet up, I’m more than happy to chat over the phone and discuss anything you’d like?

Where are you based?

I am based in Exeter, Devon, but am happy to cover events anywhere. I work all over the south west, from the Cornwall to Somerset and Dorset. But I have even done a few weddings as far a Brighton. So no matter where you are, we can sort something out.

Do you only do weddings?

No, I’m happy to take photos of anything you’d like and I’m happy to work wherever too. I’ve done family parties, christening, couple shoots, public and corporate events.

How much is the deposit?

The deposit is 50% of the whichever package you decide to go for.

How do I pay the deposit?

Once I have all of your details, I will create an invoice for you. And if you’re happy with everything on there, it contains all of the details on how to pay the deposit. You can pay via cash, cheque, Bank Transfer or PayPal.

When do I pay the remainder?

Any time between now and the day of your event. Some people like to pay on the day, others in the weeks leading up to it. Which ever is the best option for you.

Do you have a contract I need to sign?

I can produce one if you would like. I virtually never use them with my clients, but if you would prefer one, I would be happy to produce it. Otherwise, I am happy to take your payment of the deposit as an agreement.

How will I receive my photos?

I will send all of the photos to the address you provide, on a memory stick. They will be in the largest size available and free from any watermarks. You are free to share and duplicate them as much as you wish, and print out the ones that you would like.

How many photos do you take?

That varies quite a lot. It can depend on the package you choose, the number of guests, number of venues, activities, and the list goes on. So it can be difficult to predict.

Can I get hard copies of the photos?

Yes. However, until I have been through and edited them all, I won’t know how many there are and so I won’t be able to give you a price for it until then. Of course you are welcome to print copies yourself, so that you can get the best deal.

What about canvases or photo-books?

It’s the same as above. I won’t know prices until all of the photos are processed. Personally, I’d recommend that once you have the photos, you look into arranging these yourself. That way you can ensure that you get the photos you want, and get it for the best price. There are plenty of websites and high street shops that can do this, and the process is very easy.

What kind of editing do you do?

I go through every photo taken on the day, and ensure any photos that aren’t good enough, are removed, and that the remaining ones are all correctly balanced and clear. I don’t put the photos through Photoshop, so you won’t end up with any heavily edited pictures.

Can we get an extra copy of the memory stick?

Yes, this can be arranged. An additional memory stick is £25.
